D.N. Ace, Young Justice: Outsiders – Part Two hit Teletoon in July [Update 6/25/2019]

Teletoon is set to offer the world premiere new series D.N. Ace and the Canadian debut for the back half of Young Justice: Outsiders this July.

Originally announced in 2017, D.N. Ace is produced by Nelvana with animation service by Kelowna, B.C.’s Yeti Farm. The show is co-produced by Wexworks Media, whose owner Matthew Wexler (Bakugan, Tenkai Knights, PAW Patrol), serves as the creator. John Derevlany and Andrew Harrison developed the concept for television. The latter also acts as the story editor. The 40 x 22-minute series was created with the input of Japanese animation studio OLM and ad agency Dentsu, both of whom have agreed to represent the series in Japan.

D.N. Ace will air Saturdays on Teletoon at 10AM, starting July 6th. The first episode is named “Any Given Clashday.”

D.N. Ace combines the perfect formula of science fiction, science fact, and loads of awesome. The series follows curious, adventure-loving, mischief-making, proudly nerdy, 12-year-old Ace Ripley who suddenly learns he holds an incredible ability to manipulate DNA by fusing the genes of a living thing with any other thing, to create something entirely new. The hero-in-the-making uses his newfound power to create ridiculous, amazing, and even terrifying mash-ed up creatures, and tries to save his town from total chaos while trying to have the time of his life.

The series features Toronto voice actors, with Lyon Smith playing the lead Ace Ripley. Other cast members include Juan Chioran as the squirrel Mendel and Samantha Weinstein as bestie Sloane. Rob Tinkler, Evany Rosen, David Berni, and Ron Pardo are among the rest of the cast.

Notably, D.N. Ace is the first new Canadian series to air on Teletoon in 2019. This year is looking to be uncharacteristically light in that regard, with no other domestic productions mentioned during Corus’ fall upfront beyond the second seasons of Hotel Transylvania: The Series and Total DramaRama (due in 2020). Télétoon la Nuit will premiere the adult comedy Professor Zarbi’s Bizarre Stories this fall. That’ll presumably be an Adult Swim series when (if?) it makes it over to English Canada.

Also heading to Teletoon this July is the last 13 episodes of Young Justice: Outsiders. The third season of the DC superhero animated series began airing on the channel back on January 13th. New episodes resume Sunday, July 7th at 8PM, with two episodes airing each week. This follows the show’s return in the United States on the DC Universe app on July 2nd.

Young Justice: Outsiders helps highlight the struggles DC Universe has had internationally. With its future in flux, there has been no real attempt at expanding its coverage outside of the United States. Truthfully, Canada has made out better than the vast majority of markets as the shows have all been available here … just really spread out. Titans was picked up by Netflix in all markets outside of the United States. Young Justice: Outsiders is on Teletoon. Space and Crave aired Doom Patrol. Showcase has picked up Swamp Thing for the fall. The Adult Swim channel will air the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series in the fall/winter.

UPDATE: I’ve been informed that Teletoon will only air one new episode of Young Justice Outsiders per week after the double premiere on July 7th. From July 14th onward, the 8PM slot will consist of a rerun from the previous week. The 8:30PM slot will contain the new episode. This is presumably being done to keep Canada from getting ahead of the U.S. release.

  1. How about if both Professor Zarbi’s Bizarre Stories and Harley Quinn airs on the English Teletoon channel in the near future?

  2. Don’t know what shows will air on Teletoon’s nighttime schedule in Fall of 2019?

  3. Don’t even know what’s expected for Teletoon’s nighttime schedule in Fall 2019. Does anybody want to tell me?

  4. What will Teletoon’s nighttime schedule be like this fall?

  5. Thanks.
