Canadian Theatrical News: Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom
Sunrise is bringing Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom to theatres across Canada this May. Acting as a sequel to 2005’s Gundam SEED Destiny television series, the long in development movie opened in Japan in January. The film’s Canadian launch mirrors its stateside debut. It marks the second modern Gundam film to receive a theatrical release in this country and is the first to be distributed directly by Sunrise.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom was directed by Mitsuo Fukuda for Sunrise. He wrote the script alongside his late wife Chiaki Morosawa and Gundam SEED light novel author Liu Goto. Fukuda and Morosawa handled the same roles for both Cosmic Era Gundam shows. Toshihiko Sahashi similarly returned to compose Freedom’s score.
In C.E.75, the fighting still continues.
There are independence movements, and aggression by Blue Cosmos… In order to calm the situation, a global peace monitoring agency called COMPASS is established, with Lacus as its first president. As members of COMPASS, Kira and his comrades intervene into various regional battles. Then a newly established nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold.
Now Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, depicting an entirely new story set in C.E.75, will make its long-awaited theatrical debut featuring a special introduction from the director and voice cast.
The subtitled version is set to screen on May 7th, with the dubbed version (featuring the HD remaster’s cast) following on May 8th. To purchase tickets for the subtitled screenings, click here: Cineplex | Landmark. To purchase tickets for the dubbed screenings, click here: Cineplex | Landmark

Update (04/09): Based on a Cineplex listing, this post originally stated the English dub would be screened in Canada. A Cineplex representative has confirmed that information was not correct and the article has been amended.
Update (04/25): A Cineplex representative has since confirmed that plans have changed and the dub will be screened in Canada. My apologies for any confusion.
Thanks Jesse.
Thank you for posting this! I AM SO EXCITED. :D
Nothing in Windsor, Sarnia or London…
Thanks to this. I’m reminded that Landmark Cinemas exist. And got my tix.
Cineplex and Landmark have additional screenings scheduled for May 9th. I have no idea what’s going on with Cineplex regarding the dubs/sub situation.
From multiple reports, today was dub day at Cineplex …
The good news is that the run’s been extended to at least May 16th.

binged the 7 recap movies they made for the original series so i could see it tonight, peak fiction honestly
I just bugged management about it until they offered to exchange tickets for a subtitled screening for today. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who asked about it.
