Cartoon Network Canada to air Beyblade X this summer

Corus Entertainment revealed its upcoming programming highlights for the 2023/2024 broadcast year and confirmed Beyblade X will debut on Cartoon Network Canada (formerly Teletoon) this summer. Additional information on an exact premiere date weren’t shared.

Beyblade X marks the fourth main generation of Takara Tomy’s spinning top franchise. A manga series by Hikaru Muno, Homura Kawamoto and Posuka Demizu debuted in CoroCoro Comic in May 2023. It is set to be published in English by Viz Media. The toyline followed in Japan that July. The ongoing anime adaptation by OLM launched on TV Tokyo last October. The series is distributed internationally by ADK Emotions. The English version is produced in Los Angeles by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. The dub debuted on Cartoon Network in the Philippines on May 1st.

Amateur Blader Robin Kazami finds himself out of a team when he is ditched by his friends after a crushing defeat. Lucky for him, a chance encounter with former champ Jaxon Cross leads these two unlikely teammates to join forces. Jaxon intends to climb back to the top of The X under the alias “Blader X” and challenge his old teammate and current champ, Khrome Ryugu. When they find a third team member in mega-popular influencer Multi Nana-iro, the newly-formed Team Persona set their sights on going pro and claiming their spot at the top. It’s time to show the world something X-traordinary!

Cartoon Network Canada and Teletoon before it had aired the entirety of the franchise’s third iteration, Beyblade Burst, with QuadStrike reruns still on the schedule. An additional run was carried by Disney XD Canada. Earlier incarnations distributed by Nelvana had aired on YTV in Canada. In French Canada, the franchise has been home at Télétoon.

Additional animation highlights for Corus include Nelvana’s Jelly short film, which is set to debut on Cartoon Network Canada this September. Rick and Morty: The Anime, Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, Creature Commandos, Common Side Effects and Invincible Fight Girl were all confirmed for Adult Swim Canada, alongside new seasons of Harley Quinn as well as Rick & Morty.

    Hi Primus,

How do you feel about reaching this milestone in your life? The Beyblade anime has been airing since, what, 2002? I feel old.

I wonder if the Beyblade franchise can live even longer, knowing that each iteration of its series has to adapt to each new generation of kids, usually them each not appreciating its predecessor before them🤣.

    Oh well.

(Btw how is summer treating you? I hope you are doing well. I feel like this year’s summer is full of possibilities, you know? I hope you are feeling that way too.)

    • There’s always a new generation of kids to sell toys to, I suppose. Though, this iteration seems to not be as kid focused as earlier ones. One Ok Rock for the theme music (which is being retained for the dub as the track is in English) with the creatives behind Kakegurui and The Promised Neverland is a big departure from the past.

What really gets me feeling old are the zoomer nostalgia social media posts that mention second and (now, sometimes) even third gen Beyblade.

I haven’t done much to celebrate the good weather beyond refreshing the garden last month. Plants are growing, but it’s still too soon to see results.

        Hi Primus,

Do you think that Beyblade is being pandered to the nostalgic fans, similar to the way the Gundam franchise has always been with the older fandom?

But I assume since the older generation has more spending power, they would make Beyblade X more appealing to a wider audience by including more adult characters to the show, as opposed to the older iterations which had only children/teenagers running the show’s narrative.

Oh well, as long as the franchise is finding new ways to revamp their image, I’ll be okay with whatever direction they take with it. But then again, there is only so much you can do with this series before it becomes too stale to continue.

I mean, it’s a show about spinning tops of doom. What else can they do with it?

(Btw, plants may not growing right now because of the unpredictable weather too.

My best bet is to probably do something different, like bring them indoors for example.

Change is the only thing that is inevitable, so be ready to adapt if needed, especially if it benefits you in the long run.)

      • I’m not so sure if it’s nostalgia-mining or trying to prevent their latest crop of fans from aging out. They’d probably do more outright revivals of the original show or Metal Fusion. The rights holders have been a little more limited in overt things like that.

    • If you are planting any new seeds, so do now so you can harvest them in the fall…

I guess that makes sense that the rights holders haven’t taken care of this property for so long.

Or maybe they believe in throwing in the towel, since Beyblade can’t evolved beyond being spinning tops of doom as a concept.

Unless they can find a new gimmick, this franchise will prolly just exist as nostalgia collectors item in the new future, similar to Hot wheels (but without a thirty-minute toy commercial accompanying it) lol.

(Btw I was just wondering, have you always been a blogger? Have you ever written articles that were not related to anime? I am just curious about the person behind this blog, that’s all.)

    • I’ve written for a few other gaming and animation websites in the past. Those sites are gone now, though. I’m really only writing here. Blogging kind of fell out-of-style once everyone’s mobile data plans could handle non-postage stamp sized video.

        • Today was humid. Hopefully you had A/C.

That’s unfortunate. It would be nice to see your other articles online. Hey, maybe that could be part of your resume as well. You never know.

Btw, it seems like decent writers are becoming an anomaly now these days. Especially since there is a prevalence of the usage of ChatGPT and Grammerly with the younger generation🤣 I heard stories on TikTok of high school kids on the internet showing their writing, and the older people would wonder if a grade schooler did it. I feel scared for the future 😔

Out of curiousity, do you fanfiction/fictional stories too?

You seem to be good at writing, to the point of writing novels. Do you write screenplays as well?
