Odds & Ends: Crunchyroll’s top Canadian simulcasts, no subtitled Witch’s Flower at Cineplex, Before We Vanish

Anime streaming service Crunchyroll has unveiled the most popular simulcasts for the Winter 2018 season in Canada. The map does have a major caveat in that it’s restricted to shows/sequels that debuted during the season. Multi-seasonal series like Boruto and Dragon Ball Super are not included.

Beyblade Burst Evolution on Télétoon; Mary and the Witch’s Flower in theatres next month

TV Passport is indicating that Télétoon in Quebec will run Beyblade Burst Evolution on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:30PM. An additional new episode will air on Sundays at the same time.

The first season premiered on Télétoon on May 6, 2017, and concluded on December 24, 2017. The channel had been airing reruns since that season finale. Continue reading

Beyblade Burst Evolution on Teletoon this weekend [Updated 11/4/2017]

By “next month,” it seems Sunrights really meant the next weekend. Multiple on-air Teletoon promos have surfaced claiming the channel will premiere Beyblade Burst Evolution on Saturday, November 4th at 2:30PM EST. The channel’s online schedule is currently listing a rerun of the tenth episode from the first season in that slot, so we’ll have to see how that shakes out. Continue reading

Odds & Ends: Comedy Gold goes to Wow! Unlimited; Beyblade Burst Evolution next month

We finally know which of Bell Media’s broadcast licenses will be relaunched as Wow! Unlimited’s new cable channel. In an interview with Canadian media industry publication, Bell Media’s president Randy Lennox has revealed the company “horse-traded” Comedy Gold to the Canadian animation company. Even Black Jack wouldn’t be able to save Mecard’s English dub.

Turning Mecard premiered on Teletoon this afternoon … and I’m astonished at what I’ve seen. Given the show’s international roll out appears to begin with Canada, I had assumed this was going to be a Canadian production. Maybe I’m vastly overestimating my countrymen, but I refuse to believe this was created here. I can’t believe this was produced anywhere in North America. That is not hyperbole.
