Teletoon to debut Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS this September

Schedule service TV Passport has listed Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS on Teletoon for September 1st and September 2nd at 1PM. New episodes are scheduled to air on both days, with episode 1 “Link into the VRAINS” set for Saturday and the second, “Seize the Wind!”, due on the Sunday. The Saturday slot had been occupied by reruns of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V since that show’s conclusion on June 22nd. Arc-V’s former Friday 7PM premiere slot has been replaced by Craig of the Creek re-runs. Canadian Theatrical News: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie

Following last year’s release of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions, 4K Media is partnering up with Cineplex to bring another of the franchise’s theatrical features to the Canadian big screen. This time it’s a blast from the past, as 2004’s Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: The Pyramid of Light is getting a remastered re-release in April. 4K is working with Fathom Events to screen the film in the U.S. this month. Continue reading

Canadian Theatrical News: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions [Updated 2/17/2017]

It’s hard to believe that we’re just a month shy of the sixth anniversary of the last Yu-Gi-Oh! film’s US theatrical release. My post on Bonds Beyond Time skipping Canada during its brief big screen run still stands as one of the most popular I’ve ever written. I suppose that’s a testament to the franchise’s enduring popularity that a frankly throwaway hour-long crossover could elicit such a response. I guess that’s why the franchise is spawning a seventh anime series. Bringing the fandom to its roots, to a time before Arc-V, Zexal, 5Ds and GX, the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! theatrical feature is a twentieth anniversary celebration of the original manga series’ debut in Weekly Shonen Jump. After a successful run in Japan last year, it’s headed to theatres in Canada and the U.S. late this month. Continue reading
