Canadian Theatrical News: Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Musical – Le Mouvement Final

CineLife Entertainment is partnering up with Cineplex to release Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Musical – Le Mouvement Final across theatres in Canada this April. The concluding entry in a new series of live stage musicals that began in 2013, Le Mouvement Final toured across Japan last fall. Marking the first time any of the musicals based on Naoko Takeuchi’s magical girl franchise have officially been available in North America (beyond a performance at one convention), CineLife is also conducting a U.S. theatrical release of the recorded version this month.

The cast includes Hotaru Nomoto as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon, Yūga Yamato as Tuxedo Mask/Mamoru Chiba, Airi Kanda as Chibi-Usa/Sailor Chibi Moon, Syu Shiotsuki as Haruka Tenō/Sailor Uranus, Sayaka Fujioka as Michiru Kaiō/Sailor Neptune, Mirai as Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn, Mikako Ishii as Setsuna Meiō/Sailor Pluto and many more.

In the name of the moon, join Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians as they face their final fight with the evils of the galaxy in the filmed version of the Japanese musical. Usagi Tsukino says farewell to Mamoru Chiba as he is set to leave for school in America. As Usagi says goodbye, she faints, and a super idol group called the Three Lights appear to catch her fall. Meanwhile, new enemies – the “Shadow Galactica,” are calling themselves Sailor Guardians and are aiming to steal Sailor Crystals! A mysterious young girl named Chibi-Chibi and a new group of Sailor Guardians, called the Sailor Starlights, also appear, but are they friend or foe? Can Sailor Moon and the Sailor Guardians stop the Shadow Galactica before it’s too late? Sailor Moon’s final battle for the future of the galaxy is at stake, and it starts now!

Correction in the description: Le Mouvement Final is indeed the first Seramyu to be officially available in Canada, but it is not the first to be available in North America overall; that would be Amour Eternal, which was performed live at the Anime Matsuri 2017 convention in Houston.

    • I was wondering if someone was going to bring that up. :p I just feel it’s a bit of a lie to say a single performance at one convention counts as being “released in the US.” Article amended, though.
